One moment early in my career marked me. The Chairman of Waffle House walked into a restaurant where I was shooting a video, and we washed dishes together. Later that day, a senior leader and I scrubbed toilets. They taught me how to check my ego at the door and do whatever it takes to add value. To selflessly serve those around me and the company’s mission.
My career has ranged from funny music videos at Waffle House to leading copy for national campaigns with Home Depot to building a marketing department for an architectural metals manufacturer. Telling stories well and constantly challenging myself drives all my work, but serving others and creating thriving cultures gives it all meaning.
